This page is a plain-language overview of SOLARA's ongoing research program, not the research papers themselves. The formal papers are being developed for future publication and are not reproduced here.
Every environment a person spends time in a room, a retreat space, an office, shapes how they feel, think, and function while they're in it. Sound is one of the more unusual environmental inputs, because it is perceptual, physical, and social all at once: you hear it, you can feel certain frequencies in your body, and it changes depending on who else is in the room with you.
SOLARA's research asks a focused question: how do intentionally designed sound and vibration environments, the kind used in a SOLARA session relate to a person's physiological, emotional, and mental state? That question is what the research program is built to investigate, carefully and honestly.
The research develops in stages, each one answering what the last one made necessary.
Defining "human state" honestly and not just relaxed versus stressed, but a fuller picture involving the body, the mind, the emotions, and behavior at once. This is the conceptual groundwork: naming the idea precisely before testing it.
Before claiming anything new, we looked at what has already been studied, the sound perception, the body's stress response, how music affects emotion, how physical spaces are experienced. Existing research supports pieces of the idea. No single field connects all of them yet. That is the gap SOLARA sits in.
Ideas are only useful if they can be tested. This stage works out what evidence would responsibly support or challenge the framework combining physical measurements, physiological signals, and honest self-report, rather than relying on any single number.
This research is a conceptual framework, not a proven clinical model. It draws on established, peer-reviewed fields, but SOLARA itself has not yet been the subject of controlled studies that is the work still ahead.
Sessions may generate real, observable experiences and useful hypotheses. They are not on their own scientifically proof. We think that distinction matters, and we would rather be precise about it than overstate what has been shown so far.
The next stages of this work move from concept toward practice refining the measurement approach, and eventually running structured pilots that generate real, reviewable data rather than anecdote.
